In our day to day life, sometimes, people backslide. This may happen due to lust of flesh, lust of eyes, and pride of life (I Jn 2:16). The Bible describes such backsliding souls as (2Pe 2:22) “But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, the dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.” Only the Blood of Jesus alone can bring them back to God. Like the prodigal son did, the backslid souls should cry out to God for His forgiveness.
Lk 15:18 "I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee."
Neh 1:6 "Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that thou may hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father’s house have sinned."
Like Nehemiah, we should go into the presence of God and cry unto Him. We should pour our sins and transgressions before His presence and get His forgiveness. Jesus, with His immeasurable Love and compassion, calls us as He called Jerusalem in Mat 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killed the prophets, and stoned them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!”
He is wholeheartedly willing to take us back under His soul and let us come back to Him leaving behind our backslidden life and sinful nature.
